The Jungle

The Jungle is a community immersed in history and conveniently located on Pinellas County’s western coast

The neighborhood includes Jungle Terrace, Jungle Prada, Tyrone Square Mall and much of the Tyrone shopping district. US 19 runs through The Jungle, providing easy access to areas throughout St. Pete, Clearwater, and the Gulf Beaches. Boaters have access to Treasure Island and Madeira Beach, which are located across Boca Ciega Bay. 

In The Jungle, you’ll find single family homes, condominiums, and apartments, the majority of which were built in the 1950s and the 1960s. Scattered throughout The Jungle are homes built in the 1920s, reflecting the area’s rich history. Most of the smaller block homes are located in an area known as Jungle Terrace, while most larger, upscale homes and mansions are located in the area known as Jungle Prada.

Residents of The Jungle are proud of their community’s history. Much of this history stems from the community’s architectural gem, Admiral Farragut Academy and the Jungle Prada shopping complex, which is now Walter Fuller Park. The academy was once the main clubhouse at The Jungle Country Club, which in the early 20th century was a favorite vacation destination for locals, and vacationers from around the world. The Jungle Prada shopping complex was home to The Gangplank, a speakeasy and St. Pete’s first nightclub. The Gangplank saw performances by Count Bassie and Duke Ellington, one of Babe Ruth’s marriages, and bootlegging by Al Capone.
