Safety Harbor is a primarily residential community on the northwest edge of Old Tampa Bay in Pinellas County. Safety Harbor incorporated as city in 1917. Its history however, goes back centuries. The Safety Harbor Resort & Spa is built over the five springs that Tocobagans believed had healing powers, and de Soto thought might be the Fountain of Youth.
